Our readers voted Max Verstappen's overtake on Felipe Nasr at Spa-Francorchamps as the overtake of the year, but our team thought differently and Lewis Hamilton's move on teammate Nico Rosberg into turn one on the opening lap of the United States Grand Prix gets the top spot nod.
Granted that Verstappen move was ballsy, as were several others of his during the course of the season, so we give it a very close second.
Hamilton's ambush of his Mercedes teammate Rosberg epitomised the difference between the two, and why one is s triple title holder and the other has yet to be world champion. It was nail biting stuff at the height of a very tense weekend.
The Silver Arrows pair powered off the line side-by-side up the hill into the first turn, Hamilton pushed the edge relentlessly, with contact a very real possibility on a track was damp and green after days of non-stop rain but ultimately Rosberg capitulated.
No doubt Hamilton had the move planned way before the start and in retrospect he simply hung Rosberg out to dry on the exit of Turn 1 and with it erasing the German's pole position advantage with one stroke of cunning and sheer guts.
From that point on Hamilton was in control with Rosberg chasing (a familiar story of the season) and with the Briton winning on the day he also wrapped up the 2015 F1 world title - his third - with three races still to go.
It was a mega move with huge repercussions and enormous rewards for Hamilton hence our decision for the award in defiance of what our readers voted.
