Racing Bulls target double points score as Liam Lawson gets full upgrade for Hungarian Grand Prix

The team is tied with Alpine for fifth in the 2026 F1 Constructors’ Championship ahead of Round 11. Every point at the Hungaroring could therefore prove crucial in the battle to become the season’s “Best of the Rest”.

Liam Lawson and rookie Arvid Lindblad believe the tight, technical circuit should suit their car. Lawson will also receive Racing Bulls’ complete upgrade package as the team targets another Q3 appearance and valuable points.

Lawson has previously raced at the Hungaroring and believes its relentless sequence of corners offers Racing Bulls an opportunity. The New Zealander said: "I'm really excited to head to the Hungaroring. It's a track I've always enjoyed, with technical corners and few straights, so it feels like a great way to round off the final race before the summer break.

"I've taken the past few days to reflect on our learnings from Spa, but also the progress we've made throughout the first half of the season. The team has worked super hard on the car's development and I'm approaching this race with the full upgrade package on my car. We'll be pushing to put ourselves in the fight for points.

"After Hungary, it will be good to have a chance to switch off for a little while. The season has been pretty intense, so it will be nice to get back home, spend some quality time with family and friends, and recharge mentally," added Lawson in the Racing Bulls preview of the weekend ahead.

In the sister car, Lindblad will make his first Formula 1 appearance at the Hungarian venue after an encouraging opening half of his rookie campaign. The Englishman praised Racing Bulls for helping him adapt quickly while continuing to develop a car capable of regularly challenging for Q3 and points.

Looking ahead, Lindblad said: "I’m really looking forward to racing in Budapest this weekend. It’s a circuit I’ve always enjoyed because it’s a true driver’s track, with plenty of corners and fewer straights. Energy management is always an important factor, but the characteristics of this circuit should make it a little less critical than at some of the previous races.

"After Hungary, it’ll be good to switch off for a little while during the summer break, although I’ve really enjoyed the momentum we’ve built recently and part of me would happily keep racing. The break will be important to reset, recharge the batteries, and come back fully refreshed and motivated for Zandvoort. It will be my first time racing there, so I’m really excited for what’s to come," concluded the Englishman

Racing Bulls have given both drivers a car capable of fighting inside the top ten. Hungary now represents another important test of whether they can convert that potential into enough points to pull clear of Alpine.
