Cadillac will introduce one of its biggest development packages of the 2026 Formula 1 season at this weekend's Austrian Grand Prix, as the American team looks to continue closing the gap to the midfield.

The team arrives at the Red Bull Ring for Round 8 of the championship encouraged by recent progress and backed by a substantial aerodynamic update featuring revised sidepods and a new floor for its MAC-26.
Austria's 4.326km circuit is the shortest permanent venue on the Formula 1 calendar but remains one of the most demanding. The high altitude, heavy braking zones, significant elevation changes and long straights place particular emphasis on power unit performance and reliability, while changeable weather often adds further unpredictability.
Cadillac Team Principal Graeme Lowdon believes the latest upgrades represent another important step in the team's development programme: "The races now come along in rapid succession, and meeting that logistical element while improving our competitive performance is one of the key challenges of this part of the year,
"We are however pleased to be able to bring another substantial upgrade package this weekend. With new sidepods and floor it's a significant amount of work and we hope that it will continue our trajectory of steadily catching-up to the midfield. We don't underestimate the challenges Austria present, but we're learning all the time and I'm confident we can make progress again this weekend," Lowdon insisted.

Perez and Bottas know the Red Bull Ring well

The Austrian Grand Prix follows a period of steady improvement for Cadillac, with recent upgrades helping the team become increasingly competitive as it continues its debut Formula 1 campaign. Both drivers arrive with strong records at the Red Bull Ring.
Perez has scored points on 11 occasions in Austria and claimed a podium finish in 2023, while Bottas boasts an impressive record that includes victories in 2017 and 2020, three pole positions and seven podium finishes.
Perez said the team's development rate has been encouraging throughout the season: "Every race it feels that we're making progress, and there was a lot of valuable learning in getting to the checkered flag in Barcelona.
"The rate of development is very good, everyone back at the factory is going full speed to deliver new parts to the track, and the upgrade we have this weekend will hopefully provide another step," he said.
Bottas is equally optimistic: "We are always learning from experiences to understand the issues, develop the car. We're doing that, and making progress every week," he said.
"I have great memories of this circuit, not just the victories in 2017 and 2020, but also my first front row start, and first F1 podium, which I had here in 2014. This is going to be a tough weekend – but it's one I'm really looking forward to," added the Finn.
Alongside the technical developments, Cadillac will also debut a refined version of its livery in Austria as the team continues to evolve its visual identity during its first season in Formula 1.
