McLaren had a disastrous Canadian Grand Prix last Sunday, as the reigning Formula 1 Constructors' Champions messed up their tyre call and ended the race with a DNF and a car out of the points.

One has to admit the start of the Canadian Grand Prix was far from ideal with cold, windy conditions while the rain played mind games with the teams who had to make a call on the tyre compound to use at the start.
McLaren inexplicably went for the Intermediate Pirellis while Mercedes, Ferrari, and Red Bull Racing, their closest rivals, went for the slick Softs.
It was then clear that Inters were the wrong decision, and both Lando Norris—who shot to the lead at the start—and Oscar Piastri had to pit early to get rid of the Inters, which put them on the back foot.
From there, neither driver recovered and were in the lower points positions with Norris who later retired with car problems. Piastri was never in the points and was slapped with a 10s time penalty for ramming Alex Albon into retired while attempting an optimistic overtake.
Speaking after the race, Piastri said: "It was raining, and between the anthem and getting in the car, it was pretty wet on the ground. You could clearly tell where it was wet and dry.
"Getting to the grid on slicks was not easy, getting to full throttle was tough. Unfortunately for us, it stopped raining.
"If it rained a little bit more, we would have looked like heroes. It didn't, so we looked like idiots," the Australian, who looked like an idiot himself in the Albon incident, concluded.
As for Norris, he explained his DNF while also admitting he was responsible for the tyre decision.
He said: "There were lots of bits of metal in places there shouldn't have been when I got out of the car, so something happened that shouldn't happen.
"The highlight was the first lap, and then I went out with a bang—literally. It was just not our day from a decision point of view.
"We made the [tyre] decision as a team, and I also pushed for it, so I take responsibility. I don't think we had the pace today anyway.
"We were just not in a good position in such cold temperatures. Not a lot of things went our way, so we take it on the chin, learn, and move on," the reigning F1 Champion concluded. (Source: Sky Sports F1)
