Atlassian Williams has unveiled a striking one-off Union Jack-inspired livery and special edition team kit ahead of its home race at Silverstone, celebrating the team's proud British heritage as Formula 1 heads to the British Grand Prix.
The special design features splashes of red, white and blue across the FW48's nose and sidepods, while drivers Alex Albon and Carlos Sainz will wear matching one-off race suits throughout the weekend. Williams' trackside crew will also sport commemorative team kit produced by Official Team Kit Partner New Era, with fans able to purchase the collection online.
The special colours celebrate one of Formula 1's most successful British teams. Now in its 49th year, Williams remains based in Grove, Oxfordshire, where it continues its pursuit of returning to the front of the Formula 1 grid.
Silverstone occupies a special place in Williams' history. The circuit delivered the team's maiden Grand Prix victory in 1979 when Clay Regazzoni drove the FW07 to success, while Jacques Villeneuve secured Williams' 100th Formula 1 victory there in 1997.
Williams has won eight British Grands Prix, with
Nigel Mansell claiming three memorable home victories. One of the most iconic moments came in 1991 when Mansell famously gave Ayrton Senna a lift back to the pits on the sidepod of his Williams after dominating the race by 42 seconds.
Celebrations extend beyond the track
The Silverstone celebrations extend well beyond the circuit. Williams will take a show car carrying the special livery on a tour of Cardiff, Manchester, Edinburgh and London during race week.
Fans in London will also have the opportunity to attend free Williams Fan Zones, presented by Kraken, featuring appearances from Alex Albon, Team Principal James Vowles and 1996 Formula 1 World Champion Damon Hill, alongside partner activations and exclusive merchandise.
Vowles believes racing at Silverstone always brings extra motivation for everyone within the team.
He said: "We are proud to be flying the flag for the British GP this week. From our first win to our 100th, Silverstone has played host to some of Atlassian Williams F1 Team's most iconic moments – and there is nothing on the F1 calendar quite like the atmosphere of the home crowd here.
"Whether watching in the grandstands, supporting at the Fan Zone or cheering us on from home, we really feel the energy of the fans and will be carrying it with us all weekend," Vowles concluded.
