Doohan-Haas-2026

Former Alpine Formula 1 team and current Haas reserve driver Jack Doohan will be racing in the European Le Mans Series (ELMS) with Nielson Racing.

The Australian lost his Alpine seat after only six races in the 2026 F1 season but resurfaced recently with Haas, albeit in a reserve role.
But Doohan seems to be itching to be actively racing, as he announced his plans to race in ELMS with Nielson Racing, driving the team's #24 LMP2 Oreca machine, which he will be sharing with two other drivers: Ed Pearson and Roy Nissany.
Commenting on his new gig, Doohan said: “I’m really excited to be back racing in 2026 and to be joining Nielsen Racing for my first season in LMP2.
“It’s a new challenge with a lot to learn, but I’m confident we’ll get up to speed quickly with such a strong team around me.
“With Roy Nissany and Ed Pearson, we have a great mix of experience and hunger, and I’m looking forward to building strong chemistry and pushing for results.
“The Oreca 07 is a fantastic car and a very different challenge, and I can’t wait to get started in the European Le Mans Series," the 23-year-old concluded.
Doohan's deal with Nielson Racing comes at the right time for him to take part in the 2026 season. His first race will be the 4 Hours of Barcelona opener that will take place at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya on April 12.
Doohan started his F1 career at the 2025 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, replacing Esteban Ocon at Alpine as the Renault-owned team decided to let the Frenchman—who had already signed with Haas—go before the season ended.
Doohan struggled in 2026 and was replaced following the 2025 Miami Grand Prix by Franco Colapinto, who is still driving for Alpine in 2026.
