Alpine and Jack Doohan officially part ways

Doohan came through the Alpine driver program and made his full race debut in Abu Dhabi in 2024, replacing Esteban Ocon, who was Haas-bound at the time and was let go by the team before what was supposed to be his final race at the Yas Marina venue.

Doohan went on to take part in the first six races of the 2025 Formula 1 season and was then replaced by Franco Colapinto after consistent struggles.

The Argentine was not any better but was given another contract for 2026, as it appears that the money he brings is too good for the Flavio Briatore-led team to turn down.

Doohan remained in the reserve role for the remainder of the 2025 season but has now been released by Alpine.

The team said in a statement: "BWT Alpine Formula One Team confirms it has reached a mutual agreement with Jack Doohan to not continue his driving services with the team for the 2026 FIA Formula One World Championship season and allow him to pursue other career opportunities.

"Jack became the first member of the Alpine Academy to graduate into a race seat with the team when he made his Grand Prix debut at the 2024 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

"The team would like to thank Jack for his commitment and professionalism to the team for the past four years, both on and off track, and wishes him all the best for the future," the statement concluded.

Alpine finished the 2025 F1 season dead last in the Constructors' Standings with 22 points.

With Renault deciding to end their F1 involvement on the power unit side, the Enstone squad will be powered by Mercedes in the new regulations era that starts in 2026.

The team will reveal their 2026 F1 car on January 23 in Barcelona before the first closed pre-season test.
