Yamamoto appointed Honda F1 Managing Director

Masashi Yamamoto will take on the role of Honda F1 Managing Director, starting on 1 April 2019, the Japanese engine manufacturer to Red Bull and Toro Rosso announced ahead of the new season.

The team said in a statement: “Yamamoto’s new role means that he will now focus solely on the Formula 1 operation, underlining just how important this project is to Honda, especially in its first year back supplying two teams on the grid.”

“Taking over the role of General Manager of Motorsport Department will be Hiroshi Shimizu, currently President of Honda de Mexico S.A. de C.V.”

The 2019 season begins with next weekend’s Australian Grand Prix from 15 to 17 March in Melbourne, where Honda will power for cars for the first time since their return to the top flight.
