Alpine return to Formula 1 action at this weekend’s Miami Grand Prix aiming to extend their points scoring run after a month long break following Suzuka, something they were never able to say during their dismal season last year.
“I am feeling very excited to go racing again,” Pierre Gasly said in the team's preview of the first race in America this season. “Now my focus is back on racing and doing the best job possible in Miami… In the end, we want points and that is our target.”
The French driver said the team would look to “resume from where we ended in Japan,” adding they expected to be “well in the mix for Q3 and points” despite anticipating upgrades from rivals.
Formula 1 resumes in Miami with the second Sprint weekend of the season, leaving teams with a single extended 90 minute practice session before Sprint Qualifying.
Franco Colapinto returns after a high profile demonstration run, in front over over
half a milllion fans on the streets of Buenos Aires, where he drove a Formula 1 car in front of a large home crowd.
Looking ahead to Mimai he said: “After the gap following Suzuka, it's really nice to be getting ready for another race week. We have a longer FP1 on Friday which will be very helpful to understand our car ahead of a very full-on weekend.
"Our goal, as usual, is to do the best job possible and to resume the season with another points finish,” he added. Colapionto has one point to his name, with Gasly hauling in 18 over the past three GP weekends.
Alpine are P6 in the constructors' championship.
Sporting director Steve Nielsen said Alpine had used the break to develop the A526 and prepare upgrades for Miami: “We have had a competitive start in 2026 with points scored at each round and that continues to be our intention at every event,” he said.
“We have to be on it and ready straight away,” Nielsen added, pointing to the limited track time across the Sprint format weekend.
Alpine have scored in every race so far this season and will look to maintain that consistency in Florida.
