With the 2026 Formula 1 season preparing to continue at the Shanghai International Circuit this weekend, the FIA has confirmed that the city will also host the governing body’s end of season Awards Ceremony later this year.
The annual gala will see champions from across the FIA’s six World Championships gather in Shanghai to receive their trophies following the conclusion of the 2026 campaign.
The ceremony will celebrate the title winners from Formula 1, the World Rally Championship,
World Endurance Championship, Formula E, World Rally Raid Championship and the FIA Karting World Championships. The event traditionally brings together drivers, teams, officials and leading figures from across global motorsport.
This year’s FIA Awards will be staged under the theme Harmony in Motion, inspired by Chinese tradition and culture and reflecting the balance of control, precision and performance required across all forms of top level motorsport.
Throughout the 2026 season, the concept will be used to highlight the shared values linking the FIA’s world championship disciplines and the competitors chasing titles across each series.
FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem said: “China plays a vital role in global motorsport, both as a host of world class racing events and as a key partner in the continued growth and innovation of our sport.
“I am delighted that we will return to the country to honour this season’s World Champions.
“This year’s theme celebrates the values that define collaboration across our global community, reflecting the strong partnership between the FIA, the Federation of Automobile and Motorcycle Sports of China, and the Shanghai Administration of Sports, and our shared commitment to strengthening motorsport across the region.”
China’s importance on the international motorsport calendar continues to expand, with multiple FIA sanctioned events taking place in the country each season.
Alongside this weekend’s Formula 1 Grand Prix in Shanghai, the nation also hosts two Formula E race weekends in Sanya and Shanghai, rounds of the FIA TCR World Tour in Chengdu and Zhuzhou, the FIA EcoRally Cup and the famous Macau Grand Prix, which will celebrate its 73rd edition this year.
Shanghai itself has also staged world championship endurance racing and touring car events in recent years, further strengthening its position as a major hub for global motorsport.
President of the Federation of Automobile and Motorcycle Sports of China, Zhan Guojun, said: “Motor sport in China would not be where it is today without the FIA guiding us and our partners backing us all the way.
“From the roar of Formula 1 to the green speed of Formula E, from the legends at Macau to our own drivers making waves globally, we have seen this culture truly take off here.
“At CAMF, we see ourselves as the bridge. We are here to get everyone excited about racing and to show that speed and passion speak the same language, no matter where you are from.
“We know that working closely with the FIA is the secret sauce for taking motor sport in China and Asia to the next level. That is why we are excited to team up with the FIA and the Shanghai Sports Administration for this amazing night.
“It is not just about celebrating the winners from the past year. It is about looking forward and dreaming big for the future of racing together.”
