Scuderia Ferrari announced today that their 2026 Formula 1 car, which will be built under the new set of regulations, will be called the SF-26.

The name is in line with the recent Ferrari trend in naming their F1 cars, as the car from 2025 was called the SF-25.
Ferrari's SF-26 has been under development for a while now, as the team have opted to focus on it since April of 2025.
That meant they had abandoned the SF-25 early on, which resulted in their suffering compared to rivals who continued development longer.
Ferrari admitted that McLaren had too big an advantage and preferred to have a head start with their SF-26, which will be built based on new chassis regulations that will feature active front and rear aero elements.
The SF-26, which had an internal code name of Project 678, will be powered by an all-new Ferrari power unit composed of a V6 turbo internal combustion engine and an electric component.
As per the new rules, both power unit components will deliver power on a 50/50 basis.
Ferrari will be hoping that sacrificing their 2025 F1 season will pay dividends in 2026.
They featured on the podium seven times thanks to Charles Leclerc, while Lewis Hamilton, who was in his first season with them, struggled and never managed to visit the podium.
Ferrari were fourth in the 2025 F1 Constructors' Standings and will naturally be hoping to make a step forward as the pressure is piling on the team and its boss, Fred Vasseur, who will have nowhere to hide after taking the decision to shift focus on 2026 early.
The Frenchman revealed their targets with the SF-26 will be aggressive, as its assembly will finish just one day before the launch, which means development till the last minute.
He also claimed that understanding tyres will be a key success factor in 2026, as Pirelli will debut new narrower tyres.
Ferrari will launch their SF-26 on January 23 in Maranello before giving it a shakedown on their Fiorano track.
