Former Formula 1 mastermind Ross Brawn has made a shock move into MotoGP after joining Pramac Racing as a strategic advisor and board member.
The 71 year old Briton, one of the most successful technical and management figures in Formula 1 history, will now work alongside Pramac boss Paolo Campinoti as the Italian squad attempts to rebuild its fortunes with Yamaha machinery.
Brawn’s arrival marks another major crossover between Formula 1 and MotoGP as Liberty Media’s influence across global motorsport continues to grow. Liberty Media already owns Formula 1 and is in the process of finalizing its MotoGP
takeover through Dorna.
Pramac were MotoGP team champions in 2023 and famously helped deliver Jorge Martin’s historic independent riders’ title in 2024. But their switch from Ducati to Yamaha has proved painful so far in 2026.
Jack Miller and Toprak Razgatlioglu have struggled badly on the Yamaha package, with the team rooted near the bottom of the standings.
Brawn said: “I’m delighted to join the board of Pramac Racing as a non executive director.
“Motorsport has always been about people, teamwork and continuous improvement, and I look forward to supporting Paolo and the team, while contributing wherever my experience can be useful.
“Pramac has built an impressive organisation, with a great spirit and a lot of ambition, and I’m excited to be part of its future," he concluded.
Campinoti welcomed the appointment of the former Ferrari, Mercedes and Brawn GP leader, whose career includes involvement in 22 Formula 1 world titles.
He said: “It is a great honour to welcome Ross to Pramac Racing.
“Beyond his extraordinary career and achievements in Formula 1, he is someone with whom I share a friendship and a relationship of great respect going back many years.
“I believe his vision, experience and winning mentality will make a valuable contribution to the continued growth and development of Pramac Racing.”
Brawn’s move follows another recent Formula 1 to MotoGP crossover after former Haas boss Guenther Steiner joined KTM linked MotoGP outfit Tech3 in a leadership role earlier this year.
