Red Bull Racing brought a huge upgrade package for their 2026 Formula 1 car, the RB22, in Miami, which transformed it, and their technical director Pierre Waché hopes to test and validate the package further in this weekend's Canadian Grand Prix.

The Milton Keynes squad started the 2026 F1 season on the back foot as they debuted their first-ever power unit built in collaboration with Ford, and while that effort delivered a respectable outcome, the chassis seemed to be a weakness for the team.
Despite the Miami Grand Prix upgrade, Red Bull Racing still have a big gap to reduce in order to challenge the likes of Mercedes, McLaren, and Ferrari. Max Verstappen's talent bridged that gap in Miami as he managed to qualify second behind pole winner Kimi Antonelli, and had it not been for his spin on Lap 1, the Dutchman would have had the chance to be on the podium.
Instead, he finished fifth, but Red Bull Racing are adamant the package worked, with Waché saying: "Miami saw us take a clear step forward, with the upgrade package delivering encouraging gains in performance and helping address some key areas on the car.
"It highlighted some car weaknesses and room of improvement to extract the overall performance. Canada will be another good test of the package alongside some minor updates this weekend.
"It has been a positive boost for the Team to see the progress translating on track after a lot of hard work behind the scenes, and we expect car development to be made as we head into the European races," the Frenchman concluded.
What may be tricky for Red Bull Racing in Canada is that Mercedes will be bringing their first major upgrade for their already dominant W17, which means the gap will grow again compared to Miami, which means the energy drinks outfit will have to extract more performance from their car to stay in the game.
