Formula 1 has brought forward the start of Sunday’s Miami Grand Prix by three hours to 13:00 PM local time, citing the threat of thunderstorms around the Hard Rock Stadium.

The decision was taken after discussions between the commercial rights holder, local organisers and the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) following qualifying on Saturday.
Officials said the change was made to minimise disruption and maximise the chances of completing the race under safe conditions, with particular concern over lightning in the area.
Support events have already been impacted, with a Porsche race and other track activities cancelled as organisers prioritise the main grand prix.
The Miami race is the fourth round of the season, with Kimi Antonelli lining up on pole for Mercedes as championship leader.
The weather adds another layer of uncertainty, with drivers yet to encounter wet conditions under the new 2026 engine regulations, which have already made the cars more difficult to handle even in the dry.
FIA Statement:
Following discussions between FIA, FOM and the Miami promoter, the decision has been taken to move the start of Sunday’s Miami Grand Prix to 13:00 local time in Miami due to the weather forecast that is expected to bring heavier rainstorms later in the afternoon close to the original planned race start time.
This decision has been taken to ensure the least amount of disruption to the race, and to ensure the maximum possible window to complete the Grand Prix in the best conditions and to prioritise the safety of drivers, fans, teams and staff.
