Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team has unveiled the first images of its 2026 Formula 1 car, the Mercedes-AMG F1 W17 E PERFORMANCE, marking another milestone in its preparations for the next generation of the sport.

The 2026 season introduces the most extensive technical overhaul in the sport’s history, with all new chassis, power unit, and fuel regulations.
In response, the W17 is smaller, narrower, and lighter than its predecessor. It incorporates active aerodynamics with moveable front and rear wings and is powered by a unit delivering close to a 50 50 split between electric and combustion energy.
The car will run on advanced sustainable fuels developed in partnership with PETRONAS.
Visually, the W17 carries a revised livery that signals both continuity and evolution.
A flowing PETRONAS green line runs low along the car, accentuating speed and precision while blending the transition from traditional Mercedes silver to deep black.
AMG inspired rhombus detailing appears on the sidepods, complemented by the three pointed star pattern on the engine cover.

Team Principal and CEO Toto Wolff commented on the occasion, he said: “Formula 1 will undergo significant change in 2026, and we are prepared for that transition.
"The new regulations demand innovation and absolute focus across every area of performance," he added. "Our work on the new car, and the long term development of the power unit and advanced sustainable fuels with PETRONAS, reflects that approach.
"Releasing the first images of the W17 is simply the next step in that process. It represents the collective, sustained effort of our teams in Brixworth and Brackley.
"We will continue to push hard in the months ahead," the Austrian concluded.
Mercedes will now take part in the closed pre-season test that will be held in Barcelona between January 26 and 30.
The will then hold a launch event on February 2 before taking part in the two formal F1 pre-season tests in Bahrain. The first between February 11 and 13. The second will be held between February 18 and 20.
