Max Verstappen was lost for words trying to explain the performance of his RB22 after qualifying sixth for the 2026 Canadian Grand Prix on Saturday in Montreal.

Verstappen struggled in Sprint Qualifying, where the bouncing of his RB22 meant he couldn't even keep his feet on the pedals, and then in the Sprint Race, things were not better, as he said the car was trying to kill him as he ended up finishing in seventh place, the same place he qualified in.
The four-time Formula 1 Champion was hoping for changes to the car setup, allowed between the Sprint Race and Qualifying, to improve the situation, but that was not the case as he complained about front-end grip and top speed throughout the session.
Speaking after qualifying, the Dutchman said: "I have no idea what is going on. I don't really have a lot of words. Everything is so confusing. I also didn't like the setup change we made.
"I think [the race] will be chaos regardless of the weather," Verstappen added, referring to rain forecasted for Sunday's race.
Isack Hadjar looked better than Verstappen in Qualifying but then failed to put in a decent lap in Q3, which meant he was seventh fastest in the end after topping Q2 earlier.
"I am very upset," the Frenchman said. "Since Miami in Q3, I am not delivering. I make mistakes and am not sharp enough in the final laps of Q3.
"Lap time is going away, and it's a shame, as we have a brilliant car and I should be up there. I am very disappointed."
"Our car is not the easiest to drive; it's on a fine edge. It's also wanting it too much. Also, two races in eight weeks, it is hard to stay sharp," Hadjar concluded. (Source: Sky Sports F1)
