Haryanto: I will be disappointed if I can't come back

Time is running out for Rio Haryanto to remain on the Formula 1 grid, as more funding is needed to pay Manor to remain in the seat for the second half of the season.

Haryanto told ESPN, "It's going to be quite a busy summer break for me. We need to find some support from some sponsors and my management are working very hard."

"We are going to have a few meetings over the next couple of weeks and hopefully there is some good news coming up."

"I'm a bit disappointed because it is not easy to still have doubt over what will happen in the future. Sometimes you are not always going to have good days and sometimes you have bad days, so it is what it is."

"I believe in my management and they are working very hard to secure the seat for me for the whole season. My aim was always to be able to finish the whole season and given the support from the fans at home in Indonesia."

"They have really been supporting me, but when it comes to financial support, I don't think they could have done anything else. I will be disappointed if I can't come back," added Haryanto who gave a good account of himself alongside highly rated teammate Pascal Wehrlein.

Manor is not short of candidates to fill the seast. Esteban Ocon and Stoffel Vandoorne are among the drivers being considered.

Ocon is currently a reserve driver at Renault but is contracted to Manor's engine supplier Mercedes, which also placed Wehrlein at the team this year.

Vandoorne is contracted to McLaren and is currently racing in Super Formula in Japan.

Both drivers are expected to be on the F1 grid next season, with Vandoorne almost certain to slot in alongside Fernando Alonso at McLaren, while Ocon is top of the Renault list for 2017.
