2026 Monza Revival Back to the Future with great Formula 1 races cars and much more

For the occasion we have Paul and Sue Hunt covering the event at Monza for our website as they sample historic four-wheel motorsport after decades of involvement in motorcycle races across the UK and Europe, including regulars to the Isle of Man. Spreading their wings to historic Formula 1, they have this year's revival covered.

This weekend, Monza turned back the clock as the inaugural Monza Revival brings more than five decades of historic racing machinery to the Temple of Speed.

The two-day event, running across July 25 and 26, features Formula 1 cars, prototypes, GT racers and touring cars from the 1960s through to the late 2010s.

Rather than forming a static exhibition, the machinery will compete or run in demonstrations around the 5.793km circuit. Spectators have free access to all open grandstands, although the paddock remains restricted to teams and accredited personnel.

Seven categories feature across the weekend, led by Masters Racing Legends. The series includes Formula 1 cars built between 1966 and 1985, covering the Ford Cosworth V8 era and the arrival of turbocharged engines.

Masters Sports Car Legends adds GT and prototype machinery that competed in major endurance races between 1962 and 1976.

More modern cars appear in Masters Endurance Legends 1, covering machinery built from 1995 to 2016. Masters Endurance Legends 2 includes LMP3, GT3 and GT4 cars from the period between 1989 and 2019.

The programme also features Masters Gentlemen Drivers and Pre-’66 Touring Cars, bringing together GTS, GTP and touring cars produced before 1966.

Monza Revival is intended to become a regular fixture, but its inaugural edition already offers something increasingly rare: historically significant racing cars being driven at speed on one of motorsport’s most famous circuits.
