Audi had a tough weekend in Miami, marred with reliability issues, but Gabriel Bortoleto believes it is normal for a first-time Formula 1 power unit manufacturer.

It seems the Audi F1 power unit did not enjoy the hot and humid conditions in Miami, as their issues started early in practice. Matters then went south even further as Nico Hülkenberg's power unit went up in flames on his way to the Sprint Race grid due to a leak which the team failed to fix earlier.
Bortoleto finished the Sprint in 11th but was disqualified due to an air intake pressure infringement while also suffering from a brake issue in qualifying.
While Bortoleto finished the Grand Prix in 12th, Hulkenberg retired with a technical issue after early contact with Williams' Carlos Sainz.
Reflecting on Audi's issues in Miami, Bortoleto said: “I don't think we had a single issue that was similar.
“We had many, if I'm very honest, this weekend. But we haven't had one that was the same. It's just that, you know, first weekend of the year for me, I had zero problems. And then you go to the second weekend; you have three. And then you go, and you have zero again. And it keeps going like this until everyone gets mature with the new regulations.
“Things like this, they are going to happen," the Brazilian insisted. "We are a new manufacturer of engines. We only have two cars. There are teams that are running eight cars with a power unit.
“So, imagine the amount of learning you can get by having that amount of cars, you know? We have only me and Nico, and sometimes one of us is not finishing the race.
"So, we just need to be patient. And when it is fixed, I'm sure it will be good," Bortoleto concluded. (Reporting by Agnes Carlier)
