Ferrari big boss Sergio Marchionne has indicated that the Italian manufacturer are open to competing in Formula E sometime in the future, but says the rules will have to change for such a project to happen at maranello.
Marchionne told Speedweek, "We have discussed all this with our colleagues at Ferrari for a long time. If it continues that drivers have to change cars during the race, because available energy has run out, this is not in line with our idea of competition and we are not interested."
"Also the standardization of components associated with electric cars goes against the spirit of Ferrari, because it prevents independent development of the car. We want to have the freedom to contribute our entire technical knowledge."
"If the series continues to mature and there are certain basic conditions, if we can enter a real Ferrari in the series, I can imagine a commitment - but not today. If at all, it will only happen in a few years. But it is possible," added Marchionne.
