Charles Leclerc opened up about the challenge of coming back and winning the 2026 British Grand Prix after going through a rough patch recently.
While Leclerc dominated Lewis Hamilton in their first season as Ferrari teammate in 2025, the latter came back strong this season and while the Monegasque started the season strongly, he soo started to struggle.
Hamilton, on the other hand, went from strength to strength, managing to win in Barcelona his first race as a Ferrari
Formula 1 driver. Leclerc, on the other hand, crashed in his home Grand Prix in Monaco and in Qualifying in Barcelona.
Hamilton started on a high in Silverstone with Sprint Pole while Leclerc progressed, beating the Briton in Qualifying and then winning the race.
Clearly relieved after the Grand Prix, Leclerc said of his win: "It means a lot because when things get tough, and that's literally the situation I've been in the last few races, obviously there's a lot of negativity around me in general with narratives being created. And it's never a nice environment to work in.
"Things are said, and you go from hero to zero, from zero to hero, in like two days in this sport," he added.
On how he dealt with the situation, the nine-time F1 winner said: "So my job was really to just try and cancel that noise, to not look at anything, to not listen to anything. And I know that I didn't become a bad driver from one day to the other. It was just a matter of finding that feeling with the car.
"I was very strong for the first part of the season, then I lost a bit of feeling with the car. We changed quite a few things with the car, and it took a bit more time than what I had wished to get back to the level I wanted," he concluded. (Reporting by Agnes Carlier)
