Stefano-Domenicali-2026

In an era of elites controlling the media and the narrative it spews, until the algorithms decide otherwise, YouTube has become a battleground for independent voices, with content creators increasingly challenging the official line in Formula 1.

One such voice is that of YouTuber CameronCC, a committed, long-term Formula 1 fan and vlogger who has built a following by diving into topics most avoid. Like traditional purists of the sport, he questions decisions at the top and is unafraid to call them out when he sees a spin.
Unburdened by paddock politics or access for free capuccinos, Cameron positions himself outside the mainstream narrative loop that shapes much of Formula 1 discourse. His latest focus is Liberty Media appointed, Formula 1 CEO, Stefano Domenicali, whose recent comments defending the state of the sport have triggered strong reactions.
The backdrop is a growing disconnect between Formula 1 leadership and a section of its fanbase, particularly around the 2026 regulations and the perception that racing is becoming increasingly artificial.
CameronCC frames his critique through the words of Nigel Mansell, using the former champion’s concerns to challenge the narrative coming from the top.
Early in the video clip, the host says: "Stefano Domenicali, what are you talking about, sir? Fake racing. An overtake is an overtake. It is a statement of fact. Behave yourself.”
Adding: “And I am glad that Nigel Mansell, ignore whatever I have to say, my perceived axe to grind or otherwise, this is Nigel Mansell, one time champion of the drivers’ variety, he comes out and says, ‘What are you talking about, Stefano? The rules and regs as they stand are dangerous."
The criticism centres on Domenicali’s insistence that Formula 1 has “no problems,” a claim Cameron openly challenges by pointing to ongoing regulatory adjustments and driver concerns: “To which Stefano Domenicali responded, just to be clear, F1 does not have any problems. It is in a good place. But he was not precise. A couple of different times he said that we have no problems in Formula 1.”

Domenicali stance questioned

Cameron then contrasts that stance with the reality of constant rule tweaks: “How come you guys are all in the background iterating, trying to throw a gazillion different rules and regs at Miami, changing the megajoules and the capacity and the extent to which the battery can deploy and charge?”
Driver feedback also forms part of the argument insists Cameron, with references to Lando Norris and others questioning how much control they retain under the current system: “Did you hear Lando Norris saying that he did not even intend to overtake Lewis Hamilton last Grand Prix, but the algorithmic formula that is Formula 1 just took over?
“You have heard Carlos Sainz and Fernando Alonso and Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc talk very disparagingly about the rules and regs,"
Mansell’s own comments form the core of the critique, particularly around safety and the nature of overtaking in the current era: “Sadly, some of the overtakes are just totally false. Some of them look great, and then you come out of the next corner and the car just blasts past you, and the other car goes backwards because the computer has given you extra power at the wrong time, and the driver does not control that.
The 1992 Formula 1 World Champion continued: "I think it was Lando who said he did not want to overtake into the fast corner, but had no choice, and then coming out of the corner he is in the lead, and then the car just blasts past him again down the straight.
"You have got to be very careful, because forget me, it does not matter about me, but the fans around the world, I know an awful lot of them are very grumpy, and to be fair to the fans, I agree with them.”

Mansell warns of dangers ahead

Mansell also rejected comparisons with previous eras, stressing the scale of the difference in driving dynamics: “No, we did not. If we lifted and coasted, it was feathering the throttle when you are slipstreaming somebody and deciding not to overtake them. That is saving fuel, that is smart.
"Having a computer take over the running of the car and harvest for the battery is something totally different. And we did not slow down 50 to 70 kilometres per hour going into the fastest corners. It is a bit of a stretch to compare that.
"I do sympathise with the drivers enormously. I think it is very dangerous at the moment, and we got away with one terrible accident in Japan already. That was luck. He could have been hurt really badly. So let us tweak it so that it is not as bad as it appears to be.”
The intervention from Mansell adds weight to a growing debate around whether the current trajectory of Formula 1 risks undermining the core principles of racing, with Miami now positioned as the next test of whether those concerns are addressed.
Fact of the matter is Domenicali will be exposed, the switch off from fans and then sponsors will take time, new contracts and noob sponsors are here because of Formula 1 in 2021! Yes that season. The repercussions of this ball drop under Stefano's watch, will be felt. It's just a matter of time.
We salute Cameron for calling it as he sees it. Give his channel a follow and support the growth of indepenedent media, like GRANDPRIX247, to counter the elitist control of the narrative to suit their agend. It's out sport, we won't stand for it.
