Lando Norris is happy that Oscar Piastri won the 2025 Spanish Grand Prix, as the latter now has more wins with McLaren than his teammate.
Piastri took his seventh
Formula 1 career win since he joined the top flight with McLaren back in 2023, while Norris has six, and he has been in the sport since 2019.
Now in Norris' defense, McLaren has just recently become competitive, but since their dominance began, it was Piastri who has taken more wins as he outshone the driver who was supposed to be Zak Brown's chosen one to take McLaren's first drivers' crown since 2008 with Lewis Hamilton.
After winning in Monaco, Norris was again playing second fiddle to Piastri, and while that should bother any driver aiming to win the title, the Briton cut a cheerful figure in parc fermé during the post-race interviews.
Norris' jolliness was also reflected in what he said in McLaren's post-race report, as he said: "It was a good, fun race and for us to end this triple-header with a one-two is even better.
"Congrats to Oscar, he drove a very good race today," he added. "I didn't quite have the pace to match him but we gave it our best shot. It's a long race, and anything could have happened in the end.
"We were under pressure with the Safety Car restart, but we managed it really well and kept position. I'm happy to go back home with good points for the team," Norris concluded.
There is no doubt about Norris' talent, but his seriousness about becoming a champion is questionable, as he continues to show that he lacks that killer instinct that drivers like Max Verstappen, Lewis Hamilton, and Sebastian Vettel, to mention a few of F1's recent champions, which is also a trait his calm teammate, Piastri, is starting to show.
He insists on how good a friend Verstappen is to him, while we know the Dutchman has no friend when it comes to racing and has always been on the receiving end whenever they met out on track in equal machinery, while Piastri has shown that he knows how to deal with the four-time F1 champion.
Really, one cannot help but question how Norris continues to be happy while Piastri wins... Please do not tell me it's great sportsmanship...
