Ferrari's season has gone from bad to worse with Sebastian Vettel set to start the Singapore Grand Prix from the back of the grid, after he was sent out to tackle Q1 with a faulty suspension - a year ago Vettel won the race at Marina Bay Circuit, this year that scenario is unlikely to be repeated.
During the early phase of qualifying Vettel set out only to find the car precariously balanced, cornering on three wheels with the front lifting alarmingly. The team kept the German out one lap too many, before he returned to the pits and eventually climbed out of the car with the slowest time on the timing screens.
Vettel told Sky, "It felt like an anti-roll bar broke but we need to have a look, what's most important is that the second car doesn't have damage like that. We couldn't save the car for the second qualifying and have a look, unfortunately we ran out of time."
"Obviously I was a bit annoyed because first we decided to go for another lap but it wasn't really any quicker. Then we decided to pit to try and fix it but there was no time to do it," added Vettel who has yet to win a race this season.
