2018 Formula 1 World Championship runner-up Sebastian Vettel is wary of making predictions as he heads to the new season knowing that the onus is on Ferrari to raise their game to beat Mercedes and bring a title back to Maranello for the first time since 2008.
Vettel has kept a low profile during the offseason, emerging this weekend for the Race of Champions (ROC) in Mexico City where he raced for Team Germany with Mick Schumacher.
Although reluctant to speak about matters beyond the ROC, Vettel did tell reporters, "It's down to us to do the job."
As for his expectations, the four-time F1 World Champion was evasive, "It’s difficult to say at this time of year, everybody is still in the dark, we are waiting for the [new] cars to come and then get a feel. We’ll see at the first race."
"Looking forward, of course it will be a big challenge, but what we want to achieve I think is quite clear. In terms of support, I think here also there were a lot of Ferrari fans so we’re not lacking in terms of support," added Vettel ahead of his fifth season in red.
