Max Verstappen believes that the pressure of the Schumacher name is something that will help young Mick Schumacher who grabbed headlines ahead of the Bahrain Grand Prix weekend when it was announced that he will test for Ferrari and Sauber next week.
Many are of the belief that the pressure of expectation could be detrimental to the son of the Formula 1 legend Michael Schumacher, but Verstappen - himself the son of former F1 driver Jos Verstappen - thinks that the illustrious surname will play in the German youngster's favour.
Verstappen, told De Telegraaf, "If they do things right, with a surname like that will only be positive for him."
"Of course it is difficult for Mick, there is always a lot of media attention around him but I think he has good people close to him who protect him well."
"It says a lot that he has been selected to test in F1 and has been included in the Ferrari Driver Academy programme. I am sure if he performs well in F2 season, more doors will open for him," predicted Verstappen.
As the son of Michael steps into a Ferrari next week it is worth remembering that if Mick can achieve a fraction of what his father - the most successful F1 driver of all times - achieved in the top flight he will be very successful.
Big Question: Will the Schumacher name burden Mick?
