Max Verstappen echoed the sentiments of his Red Bull Racing boss Christian Horner regarding their current struggles, meaning both Formula 1 Championships are at risk.

Verstappen's statement comes after he struggled to finish sixth in last Sunday's Italian Grand Prix, having qualified seventh as his RB20 continues to be a monster to drive.
With McLaren currently on a high, Lando Norris snatching two pole positions at Zandvoort and Monza in a row, the Briton is threatening Verstappen's chances of securing a fourth F1 Title as he closed in on him in the standings, now just 62 points behind with eight races remaining.
The only thing that stopped Norris from closing the gap even further is McLaren's reluctance to issue team orders supporting him as Oscar Piastri continues to run his own season, passing him at Monza at the start.
McLaren's pitwall calls on strategy are also questionable as Ferrari outsmarted them with a one-stop strategy which Charles Leclerc converted into a win, while Norris himself shoulders some blame with his race craft.

The RB20 is undriveable

But that all doesn't give Verstappen any peace of mind, and quoted by the Associated Press, he said: "At the moment both championships are not realistic.
Verstappen insisted it is up to his team to sort out the RB20 as his job is to give feedback adding: "Unfortunately I don't have a degree in engineering or aerodynamics.
"Now it's up to the team to come with a lot of changes with the car because we basically went from a very dominant car to an undrivable car in the space of, what, six to eight months?
"So that is very weird for me. And we need to really turn the car upside down," he maintained.
Verstappen has won before at some of the tracks that are coming on the F1 calendar in the remaining eight races, but pointed out that with the current state of his RB2o, there is no chance for him to win.
"It doesn´t matter. With how we are at the moment, we are bad everywhere," the triple F1 Champion concluded.
Verstappen's last F1 win dates back to the 2024 Spanish Grand Prix in June.
