The all new Haas team have startled the Formula 1 community with their audacious start to their journey at the pinnacle of the sport, now they have ramped up their ambitions and aim to scoring points in every race.
Romain Grosjean claimed sixth place in the American team's debut at the Australian Grand Prix, and then went one better with fifth place in Bahrain.
In the aftermath of round two of the F1 world championship, Haas team principal Guenther Steiner told media, "We want to try to get points every race now. That is the objective. If we reach it or not, I don't know."
Any new season is a journey in to the unknown even for established F1 teams, the pecking order tends to reveal itself at the first race and is normally established by the first of the European rounds.
Nevertheless the Haas VF16 is proving to be a handy piece of kit as Stiener points out, "We know well enough what the car can do and it is possible to make points."
"We want to try and get points every time, but to try to get fifth every time is getting a little bit greedy and we don't want to be like that," admitted the team chief.
Despite a tumultuous start to his career in F1, over the past few years Grosjean has established himself as a well respected driver and his contribution to the success of Haas has been and is immense.
When asked about the possibility of regular points scoring, the Frenchman replied, "There are going to be circuits that will suit us better than others and we have to keep working Yes, I think we can."
As he crossed the line to finish sixth at the end of the first race of the season Grosjean declared over the radio that the achievement was like a victory.
Now he is managing expectations, "We have be calm, keep our feet on earth and realise there will be days when it's harder and not going our way."
"It is going to be a question of how much performance can we put on the car, how many upgrades can we bring and what can we do to get ourselves in an even better position," ventured Grosjean.
