Reader Rights: To save the ville we had to burn it down

I'm wondering if it wouldn't be better to let Red Bull leave.

With the money Dieter [Mateschitz] has, it should be relatively easy to start a new formula, they can take Force India, Sauber perhaps Manor (like somebody actually cares) with them and start a new formula. Lets call it Formula Experimental or FX".

They would have rules in the lines of a Red Bull experimental car from Grand Turismo, with an old school V10 engine, lap every track 10 seconds faster then current F1 cars. They would offer every team that joins, ownership of the new formula and the income would be divided based on merits (points in the WCC and WDC).

Considering that 50% of the current income of F1 is paid to Bernie Ecclestone and CVC as dividend and the other half is distributed among the teams, there would be a hell of a lot more cash to go around even if the teams were driving around in platinum plated V12's.

The point I'm trying to make is that we now have cars with fake DRS, fake tires, fake engines or POS-PU's that are overweight and under powered. They look drive and sound like sh!t. This is not going to change by widening the tires or making us listen to the sound of a pop off valve.

The real elephant in the room is the engine. Hybrids are useless the only reason people buy them is for tax incentives. I don't want to be remembered of the fact that I am being forced to drive a Prius when I’m watching F1 its adding insult injury.

I respect Bernie for all he has done to the sport, he took it from a hobby of rich petrol heads to an actual global sport.

But I am afraid F1 has painted itself into a corner, not willing to confront the actual issues of the sport and by doing so making itself less relevant year after year.
