Pirelli revealed that it will bring its softest tyre allocation across the next two Formula 1 race weekends in Miami and Montreal; the C3, C4 and C5 compounds as Hard, Medium and Soft respectively.

The American leg of the season resumes on 1–3 May at the Miami International Autodrome following a one month break caused by the cancellation of the Bahrain and Saudi Arabian Grands Prix. The circuit’s very smooth asphalt allows teams to exploit the softer end of the tyre range, despite the demanding thermal conditions expected in Florida.
Pirelli noted that degradation in Miami is primarily thermal due to high ambient temperatures, but last season’s data showed wear levels were relatively controlled. That balance enabled F1 drivers to push harder in the opening stages of the race, contributing to sustained on track battles without excessive tyre management.
Montreal, on the other hand, presents a different challenge at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve on 22–24 May, where the same softest trio will be deployed. The track surface is not particularly abrasive, and the selection is aimed at delivering sufficient grip under heavy braking zones, a defining characteristic of the circuit.
Last year’s event featured an even softer range extending to the C6 compound, although the Soft tyre played a minimal role in race strategy. Teams instead favoured two stop approaches built around the Hard and Medium compounds, limiting the strategic impact of the softest option.
Weather remains a key variable in Canada, particularly with the earlier calendar slot compared to previous seasons. Combined with the Sprint format, this adds another layer of complexity for teams as they seek to optimise performance across limited practice running.
With two Sprint weekends in quick succession, tyre strategy and degradation management are expected to play a decisive role in shaping race outcomes on both sides of the Atlantic.
Odds on Alberta betting sites are that Mercedes will start joint favourites for the Candian Grand Prix up next.
