Lewis Hamilton's 2016 season did not get off to the best of starts as he was forced to watch his team mate rack up for wins in a row and build up a 43 points lead, but since Monaco things changed, the pendulum swung and now the reigning Formula 1 world champion feels he is at the very top of his game.
During his home British Grand Prix, where he has mostly been exceptional, he again delivered a commanding performance to win at Silverstone for a fourth time in his career. He appeared invincible during the course of the weekend.
"I think [Silverstone] felt pretty awesome in that regard," reflected Hamilton days after his famous victory on home soil.
"I definitely think last year I was driving exceptionally well. The end of the year was obviously more chilled, but[at Silverstone] and [in Austria], I feel like the fire is fully lit. So, I am firing on all cylinders and hopefully this will continue."
Now the goal for the reigning world champion is to assert his authority at every remaining race this season.
"I am really, really happy because it is so easy to come into the weekend with the wrong energy, whether it be nerves or if you listen to all the negativity surrounding coming in."
"But to come in feeling fresh and powerful, feeling strong and confident, and deliver is what I plan to do every weekend and what you hope to have.
"[It has been] the best week of the year, without doubt. I had an amazing time, was relaxed and then work was good on Wednesday and then Thursday was amazing seeing the crowd here and then following that practice, long runs, everything, was just solid, solid, solid."
"I would say it is definitely one of the most solid weekend's I have had," admitted the triple world champion.
