After what was possibly the most thrilling end to a Formula 1 season in recent times, World Champion Max Verstappen is hoping that his competitive feud will be calmer with Lewis Hamilton this season.

It all came to a climax in the final race in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix with Verstappen and Hamilton coming to blows all the way through the year with collisions, a few strong words exchanged and what seemed to be a genuine dislike for each other rather than a competitive nature.
These confrontations have attracted more of an audience to the betting side of F1 and many punters have now looked to compare betting sign up offers and get involved in the feud.
Abu Dhabi was fraught and it was Verstappen who came out on top this season to deny Hamilton a record winning season as he looks to overtake the great Michael Schumacher. It dominated the news for days, even the front pages, as Verstappen took the Championship in a controversial fashion.

What has changed in Formula 1 2022?

The young Belgian born Dutch driver has said he wants a calmer season with Hamilton and knows that it cannot always be like this. "You can't have that drama every single year, for sure," he told UK newspaper The Guardian. It's not good for me, it's not healthy for anyone in the team – both teams."
But, having achieved his career goal of winning a World Championship, Verstappen explained that very little in his life has changed as a result: "Not for me at least. Once I get home I prefer to do the things I was doing before becoming champion."
This shows a lot of maturity front the 24-year-old and is allowing himself to be objective. He is keeping a clear head and not getting drawn into the battle with Hamilton before an engine has even been revved.

Will the rivalry last?

Words are easily said when you are the World Champion and the season has not started. However, there will be speculation as to how long this truce can last. Despite saying that the next few years he does not have to go out there and emulate Hamilton who has seven world championships. Verstappen is looking to enjoy his driving and stay on track with enjoying it and competing near the top.
With Hamilton being 13 years Verstappen’s senior, it does open up an opportunity for Verstappen to step into Hamilton’s shoes and dominate the world of F1.
With the heat so much last season, you do get the impression it is only a matter of time before tempers will be frayed once again for the Formula 1 2022 season.
On the 18th March, there will be a report issued about the controversial win in Abu Dhabi but it is rumoured that it will not take Verstappen’s first and only championship away from him.
However, this will likely infuriate Hamilton who is not shy to speak his mind meaning that the Formula 1 2022 starting grid in Bahrain on March 20th will be all the more interesting.
