Jenson Button has put up for sale his customised 2015 McLaren P1 hypercar explaining on Instagram that he does not have the time to drive the car.
Button wrote: "So I’ve decided to put my Mclaren P1 up for sale so that someone else can enjoy her. It’s a tough decision but living in America I don’t really get the chance to drive this beauty."
"I did give her a final blast up to Silverstone for WEC last month though!" added the 2009 Formula 1 World Champion.
The P1 is garaged in the UK thus Button seldom drives the car as he spends most of his time Stateside or racing the Super GT in Japan, which explains the very low mileage of under 900km on the car's odometer.
The P1 is
listed on Steve Hurn Cars website for £1,600,000 ($2,100,000) and features: "Finished with Mclaren Special Operations (MSO) upgrades including Grauschwartz Grey paint with Stealth Pack and MSO grey/black alcantara interior."
"This example is truly one of a kind, not just because of its owner, but also that it is equipped with an MSO 'Track Mode 2' option. MSO 'Track Mode 2' is a bespoke software upgrade that allows for a road legal version of 'Race Mode'; this alone was a £20k specification."
"Full specification includes Carbon Fibre Door Mirrors and Arms, Stealth Pack, Lightweight Forged Wheels, TPMS, Carbon Ceramic Brakes w/Yellow Calipers, Alcantara Dashboard/Door Inserts/Sunvisors, Cadmium Yellow Contrast Stitching, Meridian Sound System, Vehicle Tracking System, Front and Rear Parking Sensors."
"Also includes McLaren Special Operations 'Track Mode 2' and paint choice as explained above. This is a fantastic opportunity to own a one-of-a-kind hypercar that's been owned and driven by the 2009 F1 world champion; Jenson Button."
The McLaren P1 broke cover at the 2012 Paris Motor Show and all 375 units were sold out by November 2013. Production ended in early December 2015. It's competition coming from LaFerrari and the Porsche 918.
