Cadillac Formula 1 Team CEO Dan Towriss hailed drivers Sergio Perez and Valtteri Bottas for their approach that showed they truly understood what the team needed.

While Cadillac may be the youngest, most inexperienced team on the F1 grid, their driver pairing is one of the most experienced, and that, according to Towriss, was by design, not by chance.
Perez started his Cadillac career after spending 2025 on the sidelines after losing his Red Bull Racing seat at the end of the 2024 F1 season. Before that, the Mexican had accumulated huge F1 experience from 281 Grands Prix while also winning six times.
Bottas spent 2025 as a Mercedes reserve after losing his Sauber (now Audi) seat in 2024 and boasts 246 Grand Prix starts with 10 wins to his name.
Speaking in an interview with Formula 1's official website, Towriss explained the logic behind hiring two highly experienced drivers to spearhead the maiden Cadillac campaign in the top flight.
Towriss reflected: "At Silverstone last year, where there was a lot of rain, the race got really messy, and experience rose to the top.
"It really showed me we needed experience in the car, and it's really proven out. We needed drivers who understand how this needs to go.
"Certainly, we have that in both Checo and Valtteri. They've shown that experience and that patience. Patience is knowing when to push and when to be chill about something—and give the team room to grow and never be satisfied.
"Each of them has a good feel for that, and that's what I've really appreciated about both of them," the Cadillac F1 boss concluded.
Cadillac are currently tenth in the 2026 F1 Constructors' Championship, having failed to score points. However, they are ahead of Aston Martin due to a better finish, Bottas' 13th place in China.
