Haas confirmed on Friday that Oliver Bearman, their 2025 Formula 1 driver, will replace the banned Kevin Magnussen at the upcoming Azerbaijan Grand Prix.

Magnussen was given a ten-second time penalty and handed two penalty points on his super license during the 2024 Italian Grand Prix after an incident with Alpine's Pierre Gasly.
That meant the Dane accumulated more than 12 points in his license in the space of one year and for that was handed a one-race-ban for the Azerbaijan GP next week.
Bearman, on the other hand, was announced as the team's full-time driver alongside Esteban Ocon as Haas will feature a totally new driver lineup with Magnussen shown the door while Nico Hulkenberg leaves for Audi/Sauber.
As such, it made sense to give Bearman the drive in Baku which will help him get up to speed within the team as he us currently competing in Formula 2 while also acting as a reserve for both Haas and Ferrari.
Magnussen will be back in the cockpit for the 2024 Singapore Grand Prix which comes after the F1 race in Azerbaijan.
