McLaren driver Lando Norris tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday while on holiday in Dubai.

Confirming the news, McLaren posted the following on Twitter:

The 21-year-old becomes the fourth Formula 1 driver to test positive for the virus after Sergio Perez, Lance Stroll and Lewis Hamilton were all forced to miss races last season with COVID.

Norris himself posted the following message on social media:

We wish Lando all the best and a speedy recovery.

Despite Formula 1 managing to run a 17-race season during 2020, this is a further reminder of the ongoing dangers surrounding COVID-19 and an indicator as to why the sport cannot let up in its vigilance.

The Australian Grand Prix is reportedly under threat due to the new restrictions introduced in Victoria, while pre-season testing could be moved to Bahrain as a result.

Furthermore, there are doubts over the Dutch Grand Prix, after the organiser confirmed that it could not be run without fans.
