Organisers of Formula 1's return to Madrid took another significant step towards hosting the 2026 Spanish Grand Prix.

On Tuesday as the MADRING circuit unveiled its official event poster, revealed Carlos Sainz's dedicated Team Fifty5 grandstand and showcased construction progress less than three months before the race.
The day centred around the first official presentation of the circuit, which will host the Formula 1 TAG Heuer Gran Premio de España from September 2026, bringing together Formula 1 executives, government officials, sponsors, media and Sainz, who serves as an ambassador for the project.
An institutional track walk through the opening sector of the circuit marked the start of proceedings, while organisers also unveiled what they described as the largest Spanish flag in the country. Positioned between Turn 3 and the pit exit, the flag flies from a 54 metre mast and is intended to become a permanent landmark of the venue.
Officials including Community of Madrid President Isabel Díaz Ayuso, Madrid Mayor José Luis Martínez-Almeida, Formula 1 Chief Race Promotion Officer Louise Young and Sainz toured parts of the developing circuit before attending the main presentation event.

The event highlighted the progress made since construction began, with organisers emphasising the circuit's integration into Madrid's transport network. EMT buses, the Madrid Metro and the Cercanías rail system are expected to play key roles in transporting spectators to the venue.
José Vicente de los Mozos, chairman of IFEMA Madrid's executive committee, showcased the Grand Prix trophy designed by Pininfarina and underlined the significance of the project.
"The F1 Spanish Grand Prix is an expression of IFEMA MADRID's social and economic responsibility. And, of course, it reflects the exceptional moment Madrid is experiencing: its economic strength, its international standing and its growing influence," added  de los Mozos.
Formula 1's Louise Young praised the work completed to bring Madrid onto the championship calendar and described the event as strategically important for the sport's presence in one of Europe's major capitals.

One of the highlights of the day was the unveiling of the official race poster, inspired by the slogan "De MADRING al cielo" ("From MADRING to the sky"). The artwork combines several Madrid landmarks with La Monumental, the circuit's signature banked corner that organisers expect to become one of Formula 1's most recognisable turns.
Sainz also formally launched the Team Fifty5 grandstand, a fan zone carrying his personal branding. Tickets are expected to go on sale in the coming days.
The Williams driver completed an official lap of the circuit layout and highlighted Turn 12 as one of its most distinctive features.
According to Sainz, the famous Madrid phrase "De Madrid al cielo" gains a unique interpretation at the corner due to its banking, elevation change and blind entry, with drivers effectively racing towards the sky as they exit the section.

More than 90% of tickets sold

Madrid Mayor Martínez-Almeida described the Grand Prix as a transformational project for the Spanish capital: "This project makes Madrid the only major European capital with a Formula 1 Grand Prix on its calendar. Forty years on, Formula 1 returns to the Madrid region."
Ayuso expressed confidence that the event would be a success and said ticket demand had already exceeded expectations: "It has been a major challenge, but the circuit is now ready on time and in full.
"We are going to deliver the best circuit in the world, with more than 90% of tickets already sold, thanks to the contribution of institutions and businesses, as well as Madrid's proven ability to host major international events," she said.
The event concluded with a Madrid-themed cultural performance before guests returned to the circuit for further site visits.
With construction continuing on grandstands, hospitality facilities and operational infrastructure, organisers now enter the final phase of preparations for Formula 1's return to Madrid and the first Spanish Grand Prix to be held in the capital.
