Lewis Hamilton's breakthrough Ferrari victory at the Barcelona Catalunya Grand Prix sparked celebrations throughout Maranello, Ferrari chairman John Elkann hailing the effort, while team boss Fred Vasseur urged for calm as the Scuderia celebrated their first Formula 1 win since the 2024 Mexican Grand Prix.

Hamilton delivered a commanding performance in Barcelona, claiming his 106th Formula 1 victory and his first since joining Ferrari, ending a drought that had become a growing talking point around both the driver and the team.
The result prompted a personal message from Elkann, who hailed the significance of the moment for Ferrari and its global fanbase: "Well done Lewis, on your first great victory with Ferrari: an emotional moment and a very important result, which belongs to the entire team and to all our fans.
"I would like to thank everyone for the determination, sacrifice and collective effort that they demonstrate every day with passion and Ferrari spirit, both at the track and in Maranello.
"My thanks also go to the other Ferrari team, which tackled an incredibly demanding 24 Hours of Le Mans with pride, unity and great professionalism, fighting until the very end. Forza Ferrari," concluded Elkann.
The victory capped a remarkable weekend for Hamilton, who had shown strong pace from the opening practice sessions and narrowly missed out on pole position before converting Ferrari's race speed advantage into a convincing win.

Vasseur urges calm despite Ferrari resurgence

While the celebrations were understandable after such a significant result, Vasseur warned against drawing sweeping conclusions from a single weekend.
"It's a very good feeling, also because we had tough moments," Vasseur said. "The recovery is even more important, and it's a very strong feeling and good feeling for us. When I say it's for the team, and for Lewis."
The Ferrari boss highlighted Hamilton's control throughout the race: "The pace was there from the beginning of the weekend that he was able to fight for the pole and the race. I think he was very in control of the situation with a very strong pace. When we asked him to push, he was clearly outstanding."
Despite Ferrari's resurgence and Hamilton's emphatic victory, Vasseur refused to get carried away by early championship talk.
Vasseur continued: "I'm trying to calm down bad comments and too enthusiastic comments. It's not that we were nowhere two weeks ago and we are not world champion today. Lewis is a bit emotional, the team is emotional and my job is to try to calm down everybody in both situations. But for sure, it's a huge push in terms of confidence."

Ferrari keeping title expectations in check

Vasseur also dismissed suggestions Ferrari had suddenly adopted a more aggressive strategic approach, insisting the team's philosophy had remained unchanged throughout the season: "I think we had the same strategy from the beginning of the season.
"The most important thing, when you have the pace, I think you can do three stops or four stops. If you have the pace, you win the race. Sometimes we didn't have the pace and the strategy looked a bit shy, but today I think the most important thing is to have the pace and the management that Lewis had.
"Each time that we changed the approach a little bit, he was able to adjust the pace to the strategy. He did a fantastic job on this," declared the Scuderia's F1 boss.
Barcelona may have delivered Ferrari's most complete performance of the season, but Vasseur's message was clear: enjoy the moment, build confidence from it, and keep pushing.
The real test now is whether Hamilton and Ferrari can carry this momentum into the races ahead and turn a breakthrough victory into a sustained title challenge. For now he is in a better place than he has been for the past three years, so may it remain for the good of the sport.
Ferrari winning is always important. With Hamilton doing it for them, continues the fairytale of one of the mkost remarkable careers in Formula 1  history. Sporting history for that matter.
