Sebastian Vettel knows only too well that he hand his Ferrari team need to deliver 12 perfect races, starting with this weekend's Belgian Grand Prix, if they want to dethrone the Mercedes juggernaut that has dominated Formula 1 since 2014.
This year the Reds have a superb car and strong power unit at their disposal, but team and driver errors have compromised their campaign.
Now, after a spell of rest and recovery, it is back to the business of the championship with Vettel urging his team to continue extracting whatever they can out of their already formidable package.
Speaking to reporters on the eve of the Belgian Grand Prix weekend, Vettel said, "As is customary after the break, we will have some developments on our car. The key from now on will be to keep the speed everywhere."
"I think we did a good job so far in progressing as a team, and that’s why I’m confident for the rest of the season. There have been races in which we had the upper hand in terms of performance and we didn’t get as many points as we could have, but the same applies to our competitors," explained Vettel.
"I spent my break relaxing with the family, swimming, running and biking. Now we’re back to work on a circuit that we like so much because it’s a drivers’ track, where you can make a difference," added Vettel.
