Verstappen: Renault not the best change of scenery for Ricciardo

Daniel Ricciardo explained that his change from Red Bull to Renault from next year was because he sought a change of scenery, prompting Max Verstappen to warn his teammate that the change might not be pretty.
It has been well reported how Ricciardo to Renault 'summer break' announcement shocked the F1 world including his bosses. Now that the dust has settled Verstappen has chipped in by questioning the wisdom of the Australian's decision.
Speaking during the drivers' press conference ahead of the Belgian Grand Prix weekend, Verstappen said of Ricciardo's defection, "I think everybody has moments in their careers when you’re frustrated or you’re not happy with the current situation."
"I think everybody here wants to win races or wants to win championships but sometimes it’s not like that and you have to really be patient and work hard for it and yeah, sometimes you need the whole package to come together."
For sure Red Bull decision to go all in with Honda next year would have weighed on Ricciardo's decision-making process, despite the fact that Renault are far away from being a race winning package.
Verstappen believes in his team's Honda future, "I think that’s what Red Bull is working on at the moment and I’m confident that they can deliver a car that is capable of winning every race."
"We just need the whole package and we’re working towards that so that’s why it was also a little bit of a surprise for me that he left."
Finally, with reference to Ricciardo's new adventure, Verstappen added, "If it is for a change of scenery, I’m not sure if it’s the best scenery to go to but yeah…"
