Lately, Red Bull driver Max Verstappen is playing down talk about his future in Formula 1 after, not long ago, making it known around the paddock that he was available to best offers beyond 2020.
Despite a strong finish to his 2019 F1 season, Ferrari has angrily ruled out Verstappen for a drive at Maranello anytime soon, in the wake of his
ill-advised cheating accusations that caused a furore in the aftermath of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix weekend.
Ferrari and their bosses were offended and, for now, Verstappen is persona non grata with the Reds and was asked by Servus TV about the saga, the Dutchman pointed out, "Lewis was the one who met with Ferrari..."
As for a seat at Mercedes, he added: "Who knows? I'm not thinking about it too much at the moment."
He also went on to explain that he already has good prospects with Red Bull-Honda, who are clearly targeting the title with him next season, "I have a good feeling about the team. Everything is going well. And I think the bottom line is that we all want to win together."
Regarding his future, the 22-year-old is not concerned, "I'm very relaxed about the contract. It doesn't matter in the end. I want to win now.
"At Red Bull. I am pleased with the praise I'm getting from many sides but of course I wanted to win more races last year. Everyone in the team wants that."
When asked about Red Bull's desire to renew with Verstappen for 2021 and beyond, the team's driver boss Helmut Marko replied, "I will speak to his manager. We do not want to burden Max with that."
Big Question: What options does Max really have beyond 2020?
