Max Verstappen regrets the expletive-laced rant over the radio when he was forced to park his Red Bull at the side of the track on the after a mere five laps at the Hungarian Grand Prix. Furious as he gave up fifth place at the time and possibly a podium finish at Hungaroring, Verstappen pulled no punches when
he let rip over the team radio: “Can I not just keep going? I don’t care if this fucking engine blows up… What a fucking joke, all the fucking time. Honestly. Argh!”
In the aftermath of the tirade, the young Dutchman has since posted his regrets on Instagram, "Looking back on yesterday the disappointment is still there. However, I should not have used the words I did in the heat of the moment. Emotions were running high after a good start to the race. "
"These frustrations came for a reason, after another unexpected engine failure which have been happening too often over the past few years."
"We came to Budapest with high expectations and not being able to be competitive made it hard to swallow for us. I will go into the summer break hoping we will be back stronger after it," added Verstappen who now lies sixth in the championship.
Verstappen was not alone in his criticism of Renault, his team chief Christian Horner also had a swipe at their engine partner. But the French team have placed the blame firmly at the feet of the energy drinks outfit.
Big Question: Was it really necessary for Max to apologise?
