Max Verstappen returns home for the Dutch Grand Prix, with stats showing that he is cruising to a third Formula 1 world title almost unhindered now, and Zandvoort is sure to be a celebration of that fact and for the occasion, the Red Bull driver will have a special helmet.
This weekend the Orange Army will no doubt pay homage to their World Champion too, as he hunts an 11th win of the season, his 46th F1 career victory, his third at the seaside track and of course, with it, taking a step closer to the 2023 F1 drivers' title.
Betway has Verstappen - who has not been beaten at the venue since F1 returned to Zandvoort - the clear favourite to win the 33rd edition of the Dutch Grand Prix:
Ahead of the race, Max revealed his special Dutch Grand Prix helmet, inspired by the tri-colours of the Dutch flag.
The soon-to-be three-time F1 world champion, who has won the two previous editions of his race at home, revealed on his website: “The Dutch flag is of course related to the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort. I will be using a special helmet design there, that as you can see, is pretty Dutch. Surprise…
“I thought to go more with the red-white-blue flag this time. On the top of the helmet, we have the full flag with the lion logo on it. Then one side is blue and the other side is red. That comes together at the back of the helmet. I think it’s a great-looking result and hope it will look good on track as well. I hope you will like it as well!”
The Dutch GP was off the calendar since 1985, won that year by Niki Lauda in a McLaren. But the rise of Verstappen as a superhero in the Netherlands and well beyond made a return to Zandvoort a necessity.
