Frederic Vasseur rallied his Red troops for one final push in the 2023, Abu Dhabi's season finale, with second place in the Formula 1 Constructors' Championship still on the cards.
However the Frenchman admits it will not be an easy race for Ferrari, as contrary to the
Las Vegas Grand Prix where Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz were in top form, the SF-23 is not expected to run well in Abu Dhabi.
Leclerc finished second in Las Vegas after bagging pole, while Sainz drove to sixth having started from 12th after an unfair ten-place grid penalty saw him drop from his qualifying position of second.
With Mercedes suffering from a tough weekend in Sin City, Ferrari head to Abu Dhabi only four points behind the eight-time F1 Constructors' Championship who are second.
Speaking in
Ferrari's Abu Dhabi Grand Prix preview, Vasseur said: "The end of the season is upon us and it’s time for everyone to put in one last effort before a well-deserved break.
"We worked very well in Las Vegas, keeping focused even when faced with some rather unusual situations," he added. "We must do the same in Abu Dhabi after having closed right up to Mercedes in the battle for second place in the Constructors’ championship.
"We have a good understanding of our car and we know it won’t be as competitive in Abu Dhabi as it was in Las Vegas, conscious that there’s not much to choose between the teams currently lying second, third and fourth in the standings.
"The slightest detail can make the difference and every point counts, so we will try to ensure we have the upper hand and will do our utmost to achieve that!" Vasseur concluded.
The 2023 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix marks Vasseur's full season as a Ferrari Team Principal as he was drafted to replace Mattie Binotto back in January of 2023.
