Ex-Formula 1 driver Robert Kubica has been signed by Ferrari to join their World Endurance Championship (WEC) Hypercar campaign in 2023.

The Scuderia returned to top-tier sportscar endurance racing this year, winning Le Mans in the process, with a two-car effort with a third car reportedly planned for 2024, for which 38-year-old Kubica could to drive.
Kubica confirmed today: “I’m happy that my path and the path of AF Corse will be the same next season. AF is one of the most successful teams ever in motorsport: I’m sure we’ll do a great job together. What’s more, I’m back in an Italian team, which is no small matter.”
The Italian team will divulge more information about Kubica's role in the team in the near future. Team owner Amato Ferrari said of Kubica's addition to his team: “It is a great honour to welcome a driver of Robert’s calibre to our family. His talent and great professionalism will bring new added value to our team.”
Kubica's career was cut short when he suffered a serious hand injury during a minor rally event, which put an end to what was a promising future for the Pole at the time. He made a remarkable recovery, driving in rallies, and other motorsport series.
He made a return to F1 with Williams in 2019. He scored a single point that season. His final full year in F1. He was called up for a couple more for them in 2021 when regular driver Kimi Raikkonen contracted COVID-19.
Without offers or seats in F1 these days, Kubica has turned his attention to WEC in recent years. This year together with Louis Delatraz, Kubica won the WEC LMP2 Championship.
