Valtteri Bottas was back behind the wheel of a Formula 1 car as the 2026 season kicked off with the private shakedown held at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.

Cadillac did an impressive job to be ready on day one of the test, while Williams, for example, were not ready and will miss the whole event.
Cadillac are starting from scratch with their F1 team, with the only aid they are getting being from Ferrari, who are supplying their power units.
“It’s great to be back," Bottas said on Monday. “Also with this brand-new team in the sport, it’s a really unique situation.
“Really enjoyed getting back on track. This was the first time I drove this car, so it was just good to be out there.
"Obviously performance-wise I wouldn’t say much yet, but the main thing is we got some running done, and, at the end, we got a little bit of a longer run in too.
"So these are the first steps of debugging and getting everything to work better," the former Mercedes driver added.
Going further into the details of his running in the brand new Cadillac, Bottas said: "It was cold.
"Early morning, it's quite hard to get the tyres to work here, as we know. But as the temperature picked up, things got a bit better.
"We had some issues throughout the day but it's de-bugging, that's why we're here, and it seems like every team had some issues.
"It's just now really figuring out those and getting more and more running each day. But great to be here and in the car," he maintained.
When the Finn was asked about Cadillac's priorities for the remainder of the test, he said: "The priority list now is to get more laps each day.
"I got a bit more than 30 laps today, some of them just installs and stuff, but we need to get some proper running in, get the mileage in, and get a reliable package for race one," he concluded. (Quotes from Sky Sports F1)
