FIA president Jean Todt could face a contender as he campaigns for another term in the top automotive post.
The Times newspaper said the potential candidate is David Ward, who worked alongside Frenchman Todt's predecessor Max Mosley.
Ward is currently the director-general of the FIA foundation for the automobile and society.
"This is not what I intended nor what I wanted, but I am certainly thinking about [standing for the position] because it is important to have a debate," he is quoted. (GMM)
