Mercedes have had their opening morning of pre-season testing in Bahrain disrupted due to a transmission issue.
The reigning world champions were seen pulling a screen across the front of their garage in early stages of testing before confirming that they had a transmission issue and needed to replace the gear box in their car.
Valtteri Bottas, who completed just one lap before the issue, is expected to be out on track before the end of the morning session, with Hamilton scheduled to drive during the afternoon session.
Mercedes are targeting an eighth consecutive world constructors' championship in 2021, with Hamilton also pushing for a record-breaking eighth drivers' title.
The team unveiled the
W12 E Performance earlier this month, their final car of the current era of regulations.
