Ayao Komatsu, the new Haas F1 Team boss, claimed drivers Nico Hulkenberg and Kevin Magnussen know what to expect from him - straightforwardness.

The Japanese engineer will took over the role of former boss Guenther Steiner, and will lead the American Formula 1 outfit into the 2024 season.
While the leadership at Haas has changed, the driver lineup remains intact with Hulkenberg and Magnussen contesting the 2024 F1 season for the team.
Komatsu downplayed any concerns regarding getting along with the Haas drivers, he told Motorsport.com: "Obviously, I’ve known Kevin [Magnussen] for some years.
"Nico [Hulkenberg], I really enjoyed working with him last year. I didn’t know him before," he added, recalling: "Although actually, when I was working with Lotus, he came for a seat fit – I can’t remember which year – and he remembered that as well.
"They both know that I’m quite straightforward. I say what I think. Not being aggressive or anything, but no bullshit, it’s just that we haven’t got time to waste.
"They know exactly where I am then, where they are, and we work well together. In terms of our strengths and weaknesses, we understand each other pretty well. We’ve got a good open and transparent dialogue, so I’m happy with that," Komatsu explained.
Komatsu may have some good news with Magnussen in particular for 2024 as he revealed that he new car, the VF-24 will have some of the issues the Dane suffered from in 2023 addressed.
That basically comes down to carrying more speed into a corner, something Magnussen likes to do and the VF-23 didn't, as it suited Hulkenberg's style more, the V-style approach with heavy straight line braking, sharp turning and then accelerating.
Asked of the issues have been eliminated, Komatsu responded: "I wouldn’t say eliminated, that’s a big word. But certainly, we have improved on it.
"He’s a driver who needs good entry stability and consistent [handling] through a corner," the Haas boss concluded.
Magnussen finished the 2023 F1 Championship 19th in the Drivers' Standings with three points. Hulkenberg was 16th with nine points.
