Former Alpine Formula 1 driver and current Haas reserve Jack Doohan revealed that he received death threats towards the end of his foray with the Enstone squad.
Doohan replaced Esteban Ocon at Alpine in the final race of 2024 in Abu Dhabi and then started the 2025 season basically on probation as he was given six races to prove himself.
The Australian struggled and
was ousted following the Miami Grand Prix and replaced by Argentine Franco Colapinto, who did not fare any better, to be honest, but was bizarrely given a contract for 2026, most probably due to the sponsorship money he brings.
Speaking in the eighth season of Drive to Survive, Doohan said: "I got serious death threats for this [Miami] Grand Prix, saying they’re going to kill me here if I’m not out of the car. I had six or seven emails saying if I am still in the car by Miami, all my limbs will be cut off.
"Wednesday, I was there with my f@cking girlfriend and my trainer, and I’ve got three armed men around me—I had to call my police escort to come and get it under control," he added.
While we are just knowing right now about the death threats, we know that Doohan and his family
were harassed online following a fake social media post poking fun at Colapinto for crashing in qualifying for the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix. The fake post was attributed to Doohan's father and MotoGP champion, Mick.
"As you can clearly see, the story circulating above is completely false," Doohan said at the time. "They edited the original content to make it appear as though my father posted it, which is entirely untrue.
"Please stop harassing my family. I didn't think it would have to get to this point," he added.
Doohan has since moved on and signed with Haas F1 Team as a reserve driver.
